Union for Lusitanian
Rebirth Promote lusitanian national identity |

Home Rule for Lusitania The situation of Lusitania is urgent nowadays. Lusitania has no autonomy of any degree, the autonomy was denied by the dictatorial and chauvinist portuguese regime since ever. The portuguese domination regime does not recognize the existence of the Lusitanian people, of the Lusitanian nation, and its regions, and aspires after assimilation and total eradication of the national Lusitanian identity, and of other minorities in Portugal. Our Lusitanian nation is actually verging on total extinction. The neo-latin portuguese rule and administration of occupation have managed to destroy most Lusitanian identity and native culture. The portuguese domination means the greatest and decisive cause of the national, economic and social decline, it leads to exploitation, devastation of the environment and to many other negative and destructive results. The portuguese policy of assimilation and denationalization acquires a dimension of cultural genocide. Apparently, all is aiming at that Lusitania and all Lusitanian Lands will become a "rubbish dump of Portugal and Europe". Will we manage to prevent from it? Through an organized national liberation movement and a broad Lusitanian revival in our civil society - certainly! This initiative aims at formation of an active national liberation movement for a restoration and development of national identity of Lusitanians and other ethnicities and minorities, such as the Calaicians in Lusitanian territory, rise of an independent Lusitanian state, introduction of real democracy, civil rights and freedoms, overcoming the negative imppact of the state establishment of the Portuguese Republic and for a universal development instead of decline, poverty and desertification of the Lusitanian Lands. It is not about an autonomist movement which would only aim at an autonomy within the borders of the Portuguese Republic! Our principal aim is, in future, complete independence of Lusitania, i.e. a rise of a Lusitanian state, subject to international law. As one can suppose, our national liberation movement for independence will be subjected to flouting, mocking, even enmity by advocates of the portuguese control. Several years ago, Lusitania was still recognized at least as folklore area. Nowadays the situation is different; who only says "free Lusitania" or "Lusitanian Lands" in the public is connected with "separatism", who claims autonomy is despised, blamed for separatism and possibly even for enmity and compared to "dangerous nationalists in the Basque Country or Spain". To portuguese occupiers any idea of Lusitanian national identity means a "non-sense". In reality, however, the portuguese supremacy over the territory of Lusitania means the greatest non-sense, it has even no justification, e-g., one can doubt how the portuguese Establishment can justify the sense of the sovereignty of the Portuguese Republic over the Lusitanian territory, when many other countries have disintegrated and the Portuguese Republic has got no right of main succcession in place of the European Union federation. In 2001 there appeared the first activities and movements for recognition of Lusitanians and for autonomy within the framework of the Portuguese Republic. However, these were gradually declining and losing their support and by now they have nearly vanished but some exceptions. The modern autonomist movements often concentrated on Beira interior and neglected Minho and Trás-os-Montes provinces. However, also Minho and Trás-os-Montes (the northern Lusitanian territory of Calecia) is to be recognized as a national territory which is necessary to be fully respected within the frame of the future Lusitanian autonomous State. Another phenomenon was an appearance of "separatophobia" and "regionphobia" of portuguese society, i.e., insurmountable distrust of any indications of "separations and secessions". We are declared as Portuguese but we know that we are not portugueses, we are Lusitanians! When we consider the situation carefully, we come to the conclusion that an autonomy within the Portuguese Republic would have no meaning and would solve almost nothing. The only possible and effective way to rescue, restoration and the homerule of Lusitania is called: Independence. The Lusitanian (and northern Calician) autonomist movement for independence shall not be isolationist and separated. It should base on co-operation with other national liberation and nationalist movements and stick together with humiliated and occupied nations of all the world. This course should be followed also by our future independent state and it should maintain significant relations with occupied nations. Terrorism is inadmissible. In any case, our Lusitanian national liberation movement any indications of totalitarianism, intolerance, racism, unacceptable populism and other negative displays will not be admitted to appear. We will not enforce homogeneous society, on the contrary we will advocate multi-ethnic and multi-cultural native society and support development of all ethnicities and ethnic minorities within the territory of Lusitania. As a matter of course, the impact of the present-day portuguese homogenization and enforcement of uniform society disadvantages not only the Lusitanians but also the other minorities. The future State of Lusitania should not be isolated either. On the contrary, it should actively take part in world-wide development and admit also moderate world federalism respecting independence and national diversity but aiming at a universal co-operation and common world-wide institutions. Appropriate delegation of a part of sovereignty to international institutions for purposes of overcoming global difficulties does mean no expense of real independence, on the contrary benefit only. A destructive detriment is just the contemporary portuguese domination which causes us troubles, poverty and decline! The independence is the most essential goal but not the final goal. The new-arisen state will have much to cope with overcoming all the negative consequences, caused by the portuguese neo-latin regime of occupation, mainly in the spheres where the greatest damages have been caused under this portuguese administration, i.e., social co-existence, system of law, rampant bureaucracy, local power, educational system. health service, the environment and national culture. The independence means not only liberation from the portuguese control but also overcoming of the influence of great foreigner powers, multinational companies and dependence on financial capital. That' s to realize that independence will give us versatile benefit and new possibilities! Let's hope that in the end the national liberation of Lusitania will come anyway! Let's manifest to the regime and local representatives of the callous portuguese rule that we will never surrender our Lusitania! All Lusitanians interested are appealed to consider the possibility of joining this initiative. Any information, motions, observations and one's own comments are welcome. Our contact is:
